What does a copywriter do, exactly?
The more appropriate question is, “What don’t we do?” In simplest terms, we write. We write A LOT. We take writing assignments on a broad range of topics, we do some research and we write on whatever subject gets put in front of us.
Today’s copywriter is often called upon to deal with other things outside just generating words. We generate content on a number of levels from simple web copy to Search Engine Optimized (SEO) content that grabs the attention of Google and other search engines. Sometimes we deal with all aspects of content from text to video, images and even social media. Sometimes it means doing some video or audio editing. Sometimes it means transcribing an audio interview. If it has to do with web content, chances are copywriting services are involved in the process somewhere.
What do your copywriting services cost?
That all depends on what you want done. If it’s just writing, I most often charge either by the word or by the page, but not all jobs are the same. I have different rates for different services so let me know what you need and we’ll take it from there. Talk to me about your budget. If I can work within it, I will.
Do I really need to hire a copywriter? I’m a decent writer myself.
I’m of the mind that if you know your customer well, yours should be the voice they hear. If you’re comfortable writing on your own, great! Go for it! Writing is fun and it gives you a real sense of connection with your audience. That said, you will need a good editor or proofreader and that is where I come in. A second pair of eyes can really help polish up some already good writing and make it great.
Are you an agency or just one person?
Right now, it’s just me. As things grow and expand I will likely bring on contractors who are thoroughly screened and take things as seriously as I do. If anyone besides me is going to do the writing, I will let you know. Right now, that’s not an issue.
